We always process personal data within the UK or in territories that have reciprocal laws relating to the processing of personal data, unless it is necessary to transfer data outside such territories for a specific client project. Research participants will be notified if the project requires data to be transferred to territories without the same laws protecting personal data as those in the UK and the safeguards that will be used to protect their data, before commencing.
The security of personal data is important. We use a wide range of organisational, technical, physical and operational controls to prevent unauthorised access to data, which are assessed on a regular basis.
We will not sell your data to third parties for use outside the activities that we agree with you. We will not share data with 3rd parties unless they are clearly working with us as partners on specific research projects, they are specifically processing that data under contract on our behalf, there is a legal obligation that we need to fulfil, Criteria is involved in a merger or acquisition, or it is deemed necessary to detect or prevent crime.

When you sign up to our Tell Us What You Think community, we use the information that you provide to identify research projects that may be suitable for you to attend with your consent. You can opt out at any time.
Market research activity needs to be as representative as possible and may need to focus on individuals with certain interests, characteristics or beliefs. You will be asked questions about your background, lifestyle and products and services that you use.
Some research activities may require collection of special categories of data, such as ethnic origins, health, religion, sexual orientation or political beliefs. You are not under any obligation to provide this information and we will always obtain explicit consent at the point of data capture. You can opt out at any time.
We will retain your information until you ask to be removed from the Tell Us What You Think community or request that you are not considered for future market research activity. You can delete your profile via the website or contact [email protected]. We will remove your details within 28 days. We will also add your email address and phone number to our Do Not Contact database to ensure that we don't contact you again, as a legitimate interest.
If you are signed up to the Tell Us What You Think community or you have joined a research register of a third party that we are working with, and are selected to participate in a market research activity, we will:
With your consent, our client may contact you after the research or other activity has taken place, to follow up on ideas generated during the discussion, but will not contact you for any other purpose unless otherwise agreed with you.
If you signed up for a research project through a third party recruitment organisation, they will remain an independent Data Controller for their processes and will provide further details through their Privacy Notices.
Once you have participated in the research activity, Criteria will retain the data you provided to us for a period of 2 years. This is a legitimate interest, to facilitate quality control and validation.
If you ask us not to contact you about participation in future research projects, we will update our systems within 28 days. We will also add your email address and phone number to our Do Not Contact database to help ensure that we don't contact you again, as a legitimate business interest.

We retain the contact details of people we work with, for business purposes, as our legitimate business interest. To support long term business interests, we will retain that information until deemed out of date or we receive a request to delete it.
When people apply for jobs with Criteria, we process information necessary for the recruitment process. If applicants are not successful, we delete their data after six months, unless there is a business justification for longer retention.
For employees, we process information necessary for their employment, for legal, contractual and legitimate interest (e.g. performance monitoring) reasons. We retain employment records for 7 years after termination of the contract, and key records to provide references or any information that may be needed to support legal or legitimate business activities after that time.
